⚠️ Upgrades compared with Lanxiang’s 10 years old P-40:
– ESC, motor and servos are upgraded.
– Metal landing gear, changed the materials of the landing gear, to make it more tough!
Wingspan 2000mm, Length 1711mm, weight without LiPo 4000gr (with Admiral 5000 50C : 4700gr )
Wing area : 67.25 d㎡
Wing load : 59.47 g/d㎡
Propeller diameter : 18×8in
Thrust : ≥5600g
ESC : Hobbywing 60A
7×Digital metal 17g servo
Brushless motor : 5060 290KV
– CG 36mm in front of the trailing edge of « gear’s cover » plane upside down gear up ! BUT it’s easier to measure 115mm from leading edge of the wing just next to the gear : Admiral 5000mAh 50C (705gr) or CNHL 4000mAh 70C (690gr) all the way forward (we don’t have the choice for the LiPo placement…)
My rates Low/Mid/High AFTER MAIDEN:
– Ailerons : 80% (25mm) / 90% (28mm) / 100% (31mm)
– Elevator : 50% (20mm) / 60% (25mm) / 80% (32mm)
– Rudder : 30% (21mm) / 70% (45mm) / 100% (60mm)
– Flaps : No flaps for takeoff but 20 degrees (30mm) for windy landing flaps and 45 degrees (65mm) for no wind landing flaps, with 5mm down elevator compensation (10%)
– Throttle to right 10mm rudder mix (20%)
⚠️ Add a few clicks of throttle trim before the take-off to keep the plane straight on the runway axis after touchdown !
🚨🛠 Build tips:
– Reinforce fuselage junction with carbon rods 4mm diameter because glue isn’t enough (renfort avec 2 joncs carbone 4mm entre les deux parties du fuselage)
– I added 4 magnets to be sure the huge cockpit won’t fly away (j’ai ajouté 4 aimants pour sécurisé le cockpit)
Flights with LiPo & timings :
-1st CG 115mm from leading edge, gear up, upside down // Admiral 5000 : 4m38 (4m29 motor) 3.85v
-2nd : CNHL 4000 70C : 4m40 (4m21 motor) : 3.86v
-3rd (around 60-70% throttle) : Admiral 5000 : 5m05 (4m50 motor) : 3.86v
